Mount Vernon, 2014
I’m 83% sure I’ve posted recent art in the past, but in the off chance I haven’t, here’s a taste of where I’m at artistically. The rough lines were done in a day or two and the ink was done over the course of a few months, not because I was taking my time, but because I would use it as a warmup. Going over older pieces with some pens usually gets the juices flowing more smoothly for me, so I draw really overly detailed compositions that I know I can keep going back to. That’s also why the shading is all over the place in terms of a visual uniformity(I usually throw that out the window anyway, but more so in these warmups). The hollow eye has some lines being spaced at different lengths to form the shadow while the nose is a more bold approach. I’m not sure what this is exactly, my co worker wanted to know if it was a “hippy thing”. I don’t know what that means, but I also didn’t go into this with a concrete idea, so…maybe?
The art blog is building up slowly.
